Dandelion Wine Coming To The Screen
Ray Bradbury's book adapted.... Though his more science fiction-focused titles such as The Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 have long since been adapted for the screen (with new versions planned for both stories), legendary author Ray Bradbury's other work is still attracting plenty of interest. Now his fantastical, fanciful and semi-autobiographical tome Dandelion Wine is being transferred to the screen by Black Swan producer Mike Medavoy. For those who've never read it, Dandelion Wine takes place during the summer of 1928 in Green Town, Illinois. There, young Douglas Spalding experiences all the highs and lows of being young and free in small town America. Bradbury will be closely involved with the adaptation, though the actual screenwriter will be Rodion Nahapetov, who has his own connection with the story, having adapted it once before for a short film. This is the best birthday gift I could ask for, Bradbury says in a statement picked up by Variety. Today, I have been reborn! Dandelion Wine is my most deeply personal work and brings back memories of sheer joy as well as terror. This is the story of me as a young boy and the magic of an unforgettable summer which still holds a mystical power over me. There's no word on when we'll actually get to see the film just yet. But if it can bottle even a fraction of the book's magic, it could be something great...
